The 653 Trolleybus, pictured here by an unknown photographer in Amherst Road, outside Gibbons Furniture Shop, was regarded by many boys as the "School Bus".

Those who lived in Stamford Hill and Clapton, as well as those living in Cambridge Heath, used the Trolley and its Diesel Bus successor, the 253, to travel to School, although the boys in this picture are apparently from Upton House School.
